Butterfly image - Free to use thanks to butterflypictures.netThe meeting last Thursday was a very enjoyable event for the 35 or so who attended the talk in the Parish Church House Hall.

The meeting was hosted by local butterfly expert David Housen who entertained us with some superb explanations on habitat, feeding and the history of butterflies.
The pictures of varieties such as Skippers, Blues and Painted Ladies to name a few were spectacular to see. The talk was very informative to hear where they were located in Wharfedale and why the colonies preferred the environment they were in. Some great advice on how to attract them to our gardens and top tips to see more butterflies were also given to us.

The Mystery Fuchsia was available for our annual Association competition for the first time and will also be available at the stores every Sunday over the next few weeks, only £1 per plant, first come first served.

The Association stores at Leeds Road Allotments are open each Sunday until June when we switch to monthly openings, just behind the Riverside Business Park. They  are open from 10 til 12 noon. We welcome new members so give it a go: only £10.00 per garden, no matter how many family members use it.

The next meeting is the Annual Plant Auction on May 7th.
This is a fantastic evening hosted by a local auctioneer where you can pick up bargain plants whilst also raising money for the following charities, Ilkley Bandstand Trust and Ilkley In Bloom.
Please bring along any spare potted up plants you may have and you can take the opportunity to acquire some new ones!
