MarrakechIlkley Gardeners' Association held their last November meeting on Thursday where Garden Designer Mary Swan came to tell us all about the style, influences and design of the Gardens of Marrakech. She started off with a history lesson about how the Romans, then the Berbers and finally the French all had input into the design of the city and gardens. The 20 members who attended enjoyed the talk and the images Mary showed us of the four rivers of Islamic Gardens and some stunning results of modern design both in Marrakech and closer to home with images of Leeds and Bradford Parks.

The Association is pleased to supply Darwin Gardens with a substantial disabled access picnic bench as part of our 50th and final year.

Bench donated to Darwin Gardens

Next month sees our final ever meeting as after 50 years, the Association has reached the end of it's life. As an incentive to join us in a Christmas gardening quiz, we have a raffle, Prosecco and mince pies in addition to Tea and Biscuits as well as 50 free Golden Anniversary Narcissus bulbs for the first 30 attendees. This will take place as normal at the Ilkley Parish Church House Hall by the main lights in Ilkley on December 7th with doors open from 7.30pm, admission £1 for members (£2 non-members).
