Welcome to the 102nd Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts. We hope you will enjoy all we have to offer in what we believe to be a breathtakingly exciting programme. Festival 2008 offers you a glittering showcase of talent in Speech & Drama, Music and Poetry Writing. The Festival operates a policy of total equality and equal opportunity.
One important and exciting innovation this year is the change of venue from the Kings Hall to Craiglands. This is due to the closure of the Winter Garden for repairs to the lantern roof. We are hugely indebted to the General Manager of Craiglands, Mr Sean Battles, for allowing us to stage our large-scale events in the hotel ballroom.
This year the Celebration Concert will be held on Wednesday 21st May at 7.00 pm in Christchurch. We hope that all performers who are invited to take part will be able to do so, as we hope to organise an even more glittering event than last year. We are very proud of all our competitors.

SCHOOL CHOIRS WORKSHOP
Under the direction of CATHERINE ROBERTS
Accompanist: Arnold Boddy
This is the fifteenth year which has seen the inclusion of a workshop for school choirs in our programme. It is a non-competitive event where children can have the fun of performing and listening to items which they have learned at school over the past few months. New pieces will be introduced during the session which have as their aim, ideas for improving techniques of tone production, articulation and relaxation. During the afternoon school choirs will perform short recitals of their own choice songs. |
