The Association Mystery Fuchsia variety is available for sale at the April meeting and has to be grown on for judging at the September Meeting for a chance to win the Association Fuchsia Trophy for the year.

The 2006 variety was Madeline Sweeney. For 2007 the variety was Preston Guild.
The 2008 variety was Black to the Fuchsia. For 2009 the variety was Army Nurse.
The 2010 variety was Marinka. The 2011 variety was Garden News.

Then please get in touch with us, we have 9 meetings a year where we enjoy a guest speaker, always the first Thursday of the Month starting at 7.45pm in the centre of Ilkley.
We are always interested in entertaining speakers with a horticultural topic and we'll even pay you. If you think you fit the bill, please Get In Touch. (Now booking for 2014).
Membership runs from January to December each year (can be paid any time from October for the next year) and gives you access to the Stores Sheds and the bargains on offer each weekend and discounted admission to the Monthly Meetings.
The Stores Sheds will be open from 10am to noon on the following Sundays during 2011, weather permitting:-

April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
May 6, 13, 20, 27
June 10, 24
July 8
August 5
September 9
October 7
November 4 after which, the sheds take a break until March 2013.
May Meeting 2012

Our Annual Plant Auction was held on May 3rd and was enjoyed by everyone who attended. From the quality of the plants as well as the quantity, it must have been the Best we've ever had!
The meeting started off with a few words from Hamish Currie, representing CTI2000/St John's Gardening Group, this year's receipient of the donation from the proceeds of the Auction.
Jeremy Eaton from CCM Auctions at Skipton then took over the reins and proceeded to give us another example of why he is a top auctioneer by auctioning off every plant in the sale!
Thank you to Hamish, to Jeremy and to everyone who both brought, and bought, plants on the evening.
June Meeting 2012

David Elcock returns on 7th June to entertain us in his own style on the topic of Yorkshire in Bloom with loads of anecdotes and pictures galore.
There will also be a raffle held.
Admission £1 for members, £2 for non-members/guests, doors open from
7.20pm at the Church House Hall, by the main lights in the centre of
Ilkley.
The meeting starts off with tea and biscuit before the talk concluding 9.15-9.30pm.
Waste & Recycling Collections

Do you know when the Waste and Recycling Collections are for my street?
No, but if you are in the Bradford Area, I know a site that'll tell you!
If you are worried about water shortages or rising costs of Water Charges, have you a water butt in your garden (or a couple)?
Using a Water Butt will cut down on your household bill especially if you are on a meter and will help the environment out come the latest drought. Whilst the droughts are worse down south currently, we can all do our bit to conserve water.
If you spot a leak, report it to Yorkshire Water or use their freephone number (also on the web link).
Alternatively, the best price currently (March 2012) for getting your own Water Butt Kit is from Yorkshire Water/Save Water. If you want more than one it's even cheaper.
Discount Seeds Scheme

As from later this year (2012/13), the Association will be offering Kings Seeds for sale to members and as usual we will be discounting the prices by 20% less than shown in the Kings Seeds Catalogue and Website.
This year's Mystery Association Fuchsia has now arrived and will be available for sale to members at the 5th April meeting and the stores sheds on 8th April if any are left. Cost is just £1 per cutting.
The variety is a Hardy Bush, very free flowering and is white-ish pink and blue though looking at the flowers I would consider it more purple than blue.
